You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, March 12-14, 2010

Charlie Brown Cast 2

The Rangeley Friends of the Arts committee members are in the planning process for the 2010 summer art program in the Rangeley Region.  Since 1968, the RFA has sponsored a Summer Concert Series including artists ranging from classical to country, Broadway to bluegrass.  This summer will include a great variety of talented musicians.

As RFA continues to grow and nurture the appreciation of the arts in the region, it has become very apparent that there is a great need for a facility that will enable these programs to expand and grow.  The desire is to build a comfortable “meeting house”/auditorium for RFA programs and other community uses.  The RFA’s long-term goal is to create classroom and studio spaces for learning, creating and displaying all the arts including but not limited to visual, creative, dance, instrumental, vocal and performing.  In the spring of 2009, a 2.7 acre site which abuts the school property was acquired.  With the help of our longtime supporters, the RFA hopes to make this facility a reality in the next few years.

In December, few of the local actors and production staff gathered to discuss the possibility of doing a winter show to kick off the fundraising for this monumental project.  You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown will open at The Club House in Rangeley on March 12 for 3 performances.

This beloved musical tells the story of an average day in the life of the famous comic strip child hero, Charlie Brown.  The audience is introduced to the whole Peanuts gang as they make their way through the day. This production is fun for the whole family.  Charlie Brown (Ben Wetherill) is a rather simple soul who is considered to be stupid, clumsy and destined for failure by his friends Lucy (Erin Smith), Sally (Sue Downes-Borko), Linus (Les Hoekstra), Schroeder (Derek Wendelken), and his dog Snoopy (Sean Danforth). The lights rise to full as the company sings the title song which attempts to make Charlie feel good about himself (YOU’RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN).

Performances to be held at The Club House in Rangeley on Friday, March 12 at 7PM, Saturday, March 13 at 7PM and Sunday, March 14 at 4PM. Tickets ($12 general admission and $15 reserved seats) are available at the Rangeley Lakes Chamber of Commerce 864-5364.
